The title alone sums up the project in my opinion. Being his 9th studio album Joe has certainly found his style and what he’s comfortable with. I say the title reflects the project as a whole because the album consists of good ballads with quality production, sexy love songs that Joe is very well known for that are sure to set the mood, and the bad, because I feel as if the project as a whole is a tad bit one dimensional. After listening to the album a few times a few of the songs began to sound the same to me. However that isn’t meant to discredit the project at all, I am personally a fan and love just about anything Joe creates. Joe is a classic R&B artist whose music has withstood the test of time. The single track “Losing” is a nice mid-tempo track that showcases his personal vocal style and ability. This project is full of sexually charged bedroom music that Joe has mastered such as “Slow Kisses”, “Tonight”, “Pull My Hair” & “Drink up” that alone the songs are great in their own way. As a whole however, I feel that something is missing. A personal favorite is “Dear Joe” I like this track because it had a slightly different sound, and twist to it. It starts off as a typical Joe slow jam. Very sexy & sensual, depicting a late night escapade between him and his woman, which takes a different turn the morning after when she’s left him with a “Dear John” type of letter… hence the title “Dear Joe”. All in all this is a decent album. I feel this is the type of project most people might be on the fence about. Not completely blown away, and not disappointed either. You be the judge.
